Your privacy is guarded. E-mail addresses are never given to anyone.
Registration is not necessary.
Owners and Animal Shelters enter the quick, simple pet profile.
Shelters can save most information and need only select pet type and color.
ABuys / MyPetsLost.com checks for matches and sends you an e-mail automatically.
|
|
When a match is found, immediately the owner is sent an e-mail with the phone number of the animal shelter that found the pet.
Your personal information is never divulged to anyone. Only the animal shelter's phone number is revealed and then only to the pet owner reporting the loss.
To help guard against a pet "falling through the cracks," all pets of the type (Dog, Cat, etc.) and first three digits of a zip code match between the owner and animal shelter, and any close color match (Gray will match Gray, Black, White), (Red will match Red and Brown), (Calico will match Black, Brown, White), etc. will trigger an e-mail to the owner.
|
|
It is the owner's responsibility to call the animal shelter in response to the e-mail.
Listings expire after 60 days but may be removed earlier or renewed as often as you like.
You may remove or edit any listing matching your e-mail address.

Match Logic
|
|
You may notice immediately that breed is not used. We do not want a mix or misinterpretation of breed to hamper finding your pet.
We would rather send out extra e-mail then to have a pet fall through the cracks because an owner saw a pet color as golden and an animal shelter saw it is tan, or yellow. Therefore we match all similar colors. Likewise we ask owners to provide a zip code from their nearest neighboring state. This is not needed if you live in the center of your state but it is very important if you live near a state line. We match all e-mail between owners and animal shelters if the first three
digits of either zip code match. This will notify you of a similar pet matching anywhere in the state.
We do not ask for pet names because if the pet is tagged the shelter will have your contact information already.
If you live in a small state such as Rhode Island, or a District like DC, you may enter your pet more then once and use zip codes from several surrounding states.
Likewise, if you loose your pet on vacation, enter the zip code or codes of the state or states you believe your pet may be in.
