Installation Instructions
This program is designed to run without a formal installation.
You can begin by clicking download now. Then at the windows download dialog box select "Run" rather than "Save." This option will run the program but will not save it to your hard drive.
Give it a try. If you like it, select to download it again but this time select "Save."
- Save the program to the directory / Folder of your choice.
- To run the program in Windows you will need to use one of three options.
- Run from an Explore window by opening the folder in which you saved AngelFlight.exe and clicking on it.
- Run from your "Start" "Run" Windows menu option and then "Browse" to the folder in which you saved AngelFlight.exe and select it.
- Create a "Shortcut" to easily access the program.
Creating a "Shortcut" is by far the easiest option over time, but it does require that you "Create a Shortcut!"
To create a shortcut:
- Download the AngelFlight.exe program and save it to a folder. You may want to save it to your C:\ folder, or your C:\Windows\ Folder.
- Open your file "explore" window as follows:
- Right Click your windows "Start" button at the bottom left of your screen.
- Click "Explore"
- Open the folder in which you saved "AngelFlight.exe"
- Right Click the "AngelFlight.exe" file
- Click "Create Short Cut."
Now at the bottom of the list of files you will see a highlighted file called, "Shortcut to AngelFlight.exe"
- Left Click and drag this "Shortcut to AngelFlight.exe" file to your windows desktop.
Your windows desktop is the screen on your computer when no programs are running.
If you cannot see your windows desktop, drag the file to your "Start" button and let go of the mouse.
If you dragged the file to the desktop the shortcut will be on the desktop for you to select any time you wish.
If you dragged the file to the "Start" button, the AngelFlight program will be in the pop-up menu available each time you press "Start."
Most runtime / driver files are standard on any Microsoft Windows computer so there is no need for you to "install" this program. Simply downloading it and saving it to a folder or directory of your choice is sufficient.
If you encounter problems write down the error message and e-mail
Ron@AngelPilots.com.
Once you have saved the program use your Windows "Explore" function to "copy" and "paste a shortcut" to your "desktop" as described above.
If all of this is Greek to you,
E-Mail Ron.
for a full install version that will do everything for you. It is several Megs which is why we don't offer it by default.
SYSINFO.OCX file
Sysinfo.ocx is a Microsoft file, provided by Microsoft and installed on most modern windows computers, but not all. It enables programs to correctly size based on your screen resolution.
It resides in your Windows\System32 folder / directory. Sysinfo.ocx will do two things for you.
(1) It will eliminate a pesky message about not having the file.
(2) It will enable the program to work on a computer with low screen resolution.
This file is NOT required for running AngelFlight.exe but it is recommended.
The file "sysinfo.ocx" must reside in your C:\windows\system32 folder. If you try to run AngelFlight.exe and get an error message referring to this Microsoft file, you may download it here.
If you can view the AngelFlight program on your screen properly then you can ignore this message and this system file.
Microsoft has provided this file on most windows operating systems so you probably have this .ocx file and this may well be a non-issue for you.
If you lack the "sysinfo.ocx" file and wish to load it onto your computer...
Click File Download and 'save' the file to your C:\windows\system32\ folder.
Again, if the Windows file system is not your cup of tea, Ron will be happy to provide you with a full install version always free of charge.
If the entire program does not display on your screen, your screen resolution is set lower than 1280 x 800 pixels. You will definitely need the sysinfo.ocx file. Or you can set your display resolution to at least 1280x800.
To change your Windows screen resolution from the "Start" menu select, "Control Panel." Select "Display." Select the "Settings" tab. Move the slider toward "More" under "Screen Resolution" to select a higher resolution.
